Goals

The elaborate concept of forest educational system development in Karelia takes into account the necessity to unite the potential of forestry educational and scientific institutions of Karelia and Finland with the porpose to work out coordinated actions to establish efficient system of forest education and to bring education and personnel training up to the higher standards.
The above mentioned problems have all the prerequisites to be successfully solved within the framework of the international project "Taiga Model Forest".
The Republic of Karelia has one of the most favourable locations in the Russian Federation to develop international cooperation, including the sphere of education. The Petrozavodsk State University as the leading educational and scientific institution can undertake the tast of conducting and organizing cooperation in the field of forest education, science and technology between Karelia and Finland.
The main goals of the subproject realization are:
- investigation of the current situation at labour market and demand for forest specialists;
- cooperation and coordination of activities of forest educational institutions and scientific research organizations of Karelia and Finland and creation conditions for integration into European educational space;
- raise of standards of forest specialists training.
