Application of results

The subproject indicates the appropriate technology for the Russian Karelia in the present stage of the developments and the importance of forestry in the sus-tainable economy. It furthers the change of technology and expertise between Finnish and Russian research and practical experts.

For suppliers of machinery and forest products industry it gives knowledge of ap-propriate technology and, most hopefully, increases innovations in the field of machine design and practical ap-plication. In addition, the subproject promotes the adaptation of profitable and environmentally sound technology suitable for thinn-ings.

For consumers and general public, the studies demonstrate the possibilities to prac-tise forestry, which will be a production area in the national economy of the Kalelian Republic and, at the same time, provides, employment, forest products and multi-ple-use possibilities to the local population and sustains the ecological diversity.
